Eliminate Double Votes
by Ben Finklea posted 9/20/2018

Youth Coaches and Administrators:  Need some help from all of you as we round the bend on the last 48 hours of voting for the new OGLA Board of Directors.

Please remember that each club is allowed just ONE VOTE.  This does not mean each team (3/4, 5/6 and 7/8) gets a vote, it means all of your teams (your club or program) gets the one vote.  Example, Westview Youth Lacrosse gets one vote, not the Westview 7/8 team and the Westview 5/6 team, etc., etc.  Almost every youth program who has voted so far has cast two ballots.  Now we are having to go back to each club to verify whose ballot is the one that will be counted and the one that will be tossed and it is creating extra work.

PLEASE TIE OFF WITH YOUR FELLOW CLUB MEMBERS OR DESIGNATED PRESIDENT OR ADMINISTRATOR TO DETERMINE WHO WILL CAST YOUR BALLOT.

Thanks for the assist everyone!  Look forward to sharing the results with you all soon!

LAST DAY TO VOTE: 2018-19 OGLA Board Elections
by OGLA posted 9/18/2018

AS OF THURSDAY MORNING, ONLY NINE YOUTH PROGRAMS HAVE CAST THEIR VOTES.  PLEASE MAKE SURE TO GET YOUR PROGRAMS VOTE IN BY TOMORROW AS VOTING CLOSES FRIDAY.

Dear Youth Club Adminsitrators, Coaches & Managers,

It's election time! This year there are four (4) At-Large director positions open - these are 1 and 2 year terms.

Individuals have submitted self-nominations for all OGLA programs' consideration. Along with their names and a statement of interest, individuals have forwarded a summary of their qualifications and what they would like to contribute to OGLA (under documents on OGYLA website). Statements included here are provided verbatim and unedited.

Your youth program can submit ONE BALLOT - either by the program adminstrator or a designated club representative.  The ballot should be submitted by the outgoing adminstrator if a new administrator has not been identified. Please communicate with your youth club to determine who will submit the ballot. Your name and program is required on the ballot.

IF EITHER OF THESE INDIVIDUALS ARE UNABLE or UNWILLING TO VOTE, THE 2017-18 PROGRAM ADMINISTRATOR MUST ADVISE OGLA IN WRITING  -- NAMING A PROXY WHO WILL VOTE ON BEHALF OF THE PROGRAM.

BALLOTS MUST BE SUBMITTED by Friday, September 21st, 2018.

Thank you for participating!

Sincerely,

OGLA Board

Coaches & Managers: Vacancies, Nominations and Voting
by Ben Finklea posted 9/7/2018

Dear Youth and High School Coaches and Managers:  I hope this message finds you well!  As I finish out my last few weeks as OGLA President, I wanted to touch base with all of you on a few important topics as we begin our transition.

The current Board (from OGLA and OGYLA) met last night and covered a lot of ground finalizing our merger and started preperations for getting our new Board in place as a number of terms of current members at both the HS and Youth level have expired and it is time to welcome in some new blood!  To that end, if you could help us out with the below items, it of course would be greatly appreciated!

BOARD NOMINATIONS & COMMITTEE ASSIGNMENTS:  As you might have already seen today via email and our social media, we have called for nominations to fill four open Board of Directors seats on our newly unified Board.  In addition to nominations, we are calling out for those who may want to serve on committee assignments (which are more focused on specific areas like youth, high school, growth and sportsmanship).  As they say "It takes a Village" and now more than ever we need NEW leaders with fresh vision to step up and join the amazing folks who are returning to the Board in 2019.  We hope that those willing to serve come from not only diverse backgrounds, but diverse geography so all voices from around the state contiue to have a seat at the table.  Help us stoke the fire of girls lacrosse growth here in Oregon at all levels.  I would ask that you take the lead from within your program and by voluntering yourself or talking to former players or current players parents about seeing if they might be willing to serve in some capacity.  To self nominate, just visit the web site at www.oregongirlslax.com

VOTING:  Please make sure that the OGYLA and OGLA websites are up to date with the appropriate people and emails as it pertains to the leadership in your youth organization or high school program.  This way we can insure the ballot for the Board vote makes it to the proper person and a valid vote can be cast!  If you need any help on this, feel free to reach out to Jon Kruse or Ali Loeb.

HIGH SCHOOL COACHING VACANCIES:  We have a SEVEN high school coaching vacancies and my ask is that you all, high school and youth, help us shake the trees to identify and encourage some new coaches to step forward.  Many of these openings are in areas trying to grow, so it takes a special someone to be willing to really dig in, but we have a lot of OGLA alums who are returning home from college and even if they can help out on a part time basis with a new coach would go a long way.  Information on the specific openings can always be found on the OGLA website at http://oregongirlslax.com/Page.asp?n=107678&org=OREGONGIRSLAXCOM

As always, please let us know if any questions as we proceed ahead and I look forward to announcing our new board members and committee memebers on September 21st.
